International Dimension at Litherland High School
Litherland High School holds the International School Award and we consider ourselves to be a truly Global Learning Environment. We aim to promote the concept of a multicultural world where our students feel confident and develop an understanding and respect for other cultures. We have strong links and partnerships across the globe and all students participate in a range of activities related to the international dimension, in all subject areas. In addition, all students have the opportunity to visit one or more of our link schools or to take part in an international trip as part of their studies.
We host Foreign Languages Assistants on a yearly basis and they are able to work in a wide array of lessons in different languages. The assistants contribute to the international dimension of the school by educating our children and staff about the language and culture of their countries. Our school operates a number of different educational visits each year that are firmly embedded in the curriculum. We believe that children should have the opportunity to experience other cultures both through contact with staff in schools and if possible through mobility activities. We know from experience that direct experience of another culture can serve to broaden horizons and challenge stereotypes faced by young people and as such, we hope to be able to continue to offer these opportunities for a long time to come.
