Information Communication Centre

The ICC is open from 8 a.m. every day.  Students are welcome to use the ICC before school, at morning break, lunch time and after school until at least 4 p.m.

We have over 14,000 books and 31 computers.  We aim to instil a love of learning in general and reading in particular.  With this aim in mind we run a book club to encourage students to purchase books.  We invest resources on updating our stock, so that there is always something new for avid readers.

We have a number of Kindles that students may borrow and take home to boost their reading.

A key part of how we work is that we have a brilliant team of students – known as Information and Communication Assistants (ICAs) – who support what we do.  They are fully trained when they are appointed and they continue to be trained on a continuous basis.

We run a range of competitions every half term for students to enter and win prizes.  We participate in World Book Day with each Year 7 and Year 8 student receiving a voucher to put towards the cost of purchasing a book of their choice.

Various after school activities are available throughout the year, e.g. Fright Night at the end of October, Spring and Winter Craft events and this year, to celebrate the 150 years since ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was published, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The ICC is at the centre of the Accelerated Reading Programme that has been introduced to Litherland High School.
