Teacher of Drama/Performing Arts

Dates: Apply by noon on 15th June 2022, Job start 1st September 2022

Salary: MPS/UPS

Location: Sefton, Merseyside

Contract Type : Full Time

Contract Term: Permanent

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and highly effective teacher of Drama/Performing Arts. Applicants should have a proven track record of success and be committed to further improving teaching and learning as well as student progress within this area. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wishes to develop in a supportive, well-resourced and exciting environment.  The vacancy is suitable for experienced or NQT (ECT) candidates.

The successful candidate will join an improving school where high standards are expected of staff as well as pupils, but in a lively and supportive atmosphere. It is important that our staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about their specialism. We want to benefit fully from your skills, personality and knowledge.  You must be able to inspire and enthuse students through your teaching.  An engaging personality, attention to detail, a creative approach to the delivery of the curriculum and strategies to enable all students to make or exceed their levels of progress are all essential in order to accelerate student progress and promote the enjoyment of the subject.

The role will include teaching Drama/Performing Arts to all year groups; 1 lesson per week at KS3 Years 7-9; and Option Classes at GCSE.  Your lessons will take place in our dedicated Drama Studio and you will have access to the main theatre space when required.  You will be the sole teacher of Drama/Performing Arts.  You will support the development of schemes of work to ensure the curriculum is engaging to all learners, alongside supporting student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school.

Our recent Ofsted inspection (January 2022) highlighted many strengths in our school with a clear focus for further improvement.  We are oversubscribed and also benefiting from a Primary school, that is part of our Multi Academy Trust, locating on our site from June 2022.  This is a very exciting time to join our school as we continue our journey to become an outstanding school.

Litherland High School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the wellbeing of young people.  An appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), and will be subject to references.
