Our Governors
Simon Porter (Chair of Governors)
As Chair of Governors, I am proud to support the strategic leadership of our school, working in close partnership with the headteacher and fellow governors to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to thrive. I bring a commitment to strong governance, accountability, and collaboration, with a focus on maintaining high standards of education and safeguarding.
With a background in Civil Litigation and Project Management, I offer a range of skills to help guide decision-making and support school improvement. I have served on the governing board since 2023, and was appointed Chair in 2025, a role I take great pride in, ensuring the board remains effective, inclusive, and focused on the best interests of all pupils and staff.
Outside of governance, I'm a husband, father of four and grandad. I'm a keen cyclist and have helped raise money for many charities. I’m always open to hearing from parents, staff, and the wider school community.

Colin Skidmore (Deputy Chair)
I work as a Business Analyst for a computer services company. I am married to Jenny, and we have three children, Matthew, Katie and Lucy. I believe that every child deserves a quality education, that identifies their strengths and allows them to achieve their potential, and to realise that there are many opportunities open to do this. A positive, inclusive and caring environment is crucial to this, and I believe that Litherland High School is striving to create this environment, and to improve our links with the wider community, and as a Governing body, it is crucial we support and challenge this.

James Reardon (Parent Governor)
As a newly appointed Parent Governor at Litherland High School, I bring both the voice of a committed parent and over 30 years of community experience. I’m passionate about ensuring that all parents feel heard, respected, and actively involved in shaping the future of our school. My journey into school governance began with a personal need—seeking better communication and support for my own child with ADHD. That experience made it clear just how vital strong, open communication is between families and the school. My involvement with the Voice of the Child group has deepened my understanding of advocacy and the importance of listening, not just to pupils but also to their parents and carers. I believe that by working together—parents, governors, staff, and school leadership—we can create the best environment for all our children to thrive. I’m especially focused on making sure that every child, including those with special educational needs, is supported properly, and that the Trust is held to account on behalf of all families. I have a long history of community engagement, including raising funds for various charities and supporting others in need—something I’ve always found deeply fulfilling. My approach as a governor is simple: I’m here to listen, to work constructively with the headteacher and staff, and to help bridge the gap between school and home. My door is always open—I’m available to parents at any time, and I’m committed to being a strong, approachable voice for all.

Alison Bennett (Staff Governor)
I have been a PE teacher at Litherland High School since 2007. I am enthusiastic about students enhancing their learning, knowledge and skills and receiving the best out of their high school life. Over the years, I have developed good relationships with staff, students, parents and the community. I have been involved in a number of school shows, exchange visits and sporting events and know how important they are to the students at Litherland High School. Before teaching I completed a 3 year Sports Development degree at Liverpool John Moore's University and then continued for an extra year to complete a PGCE in PE. During my time at university, I travelled to the USA to work at a Summer camp where I was a lifeguard and swimming teacher. I thoroughly enjoy working alongside the other members of the governing body.
Adele Browne (Parent Governor)
Adele Browne has been a school governor for over 15 years, at both Litherland High and Springwell Park Primary. She brings extensive experience from her role as Assistant Behaviour Lead at Litherland High School, where she supports students in developing positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Adele is passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every child can thrive. Her deep understanding of student needs and her long-standing commitment to education make her a vital part of our school community.
In her spare time, Adele loves spending time with her husband and two daughters, and their Shoodle Kiki.
